Seiko 5 Sports is the affordable automatic line Seiko has made since 1963, built around five promises: an automatic movement, a day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown and a durable case and bracelet. BeepWear lists six pre-owned Seiko 5 Sports watches from $325 to $495 with a median of $415, every one of them an automatic in steel. Each is inspected before listing and photographed as the actual watch.
Which Seiko 5 Sports models are in stock? Three from the SNXS series, the revival of the slim 1990s Seiko 5 dress-sport design: the SRPK87, SRPK89 and SRPK91, each $415 and differing by dial colour. One Field GMT, the SSK023 at $450, the Seiko 5 with a fourth hand for a second time zone. And two limited editions: the SKX Sports Style 55th Anniversary SRPK07 at $325, made for the 55th anniversary of the 1968 Seiko 5 Sports, and the Rowing Blazers collaboration SRPJ69 at $495.
What does a pre-owned Seiko 5 Sports cost? $325 to $495 here. The SRPK07 anniversary piece is the least expensive at $325, the SNXS trio are $415, the Field GMT is $450 and the Rowing Blazers collaboration tops the page at $495. All six were well under $1,000 new, so a used Seiko 5 is one of the few automatic watches where the saving against retail is measured in tens of dollars rather than hundreds; the reason to buy pre-owned is that the limited pieces and discontinued dials are no longer in the shops.
Is the Seiko 5 Sports a dive watch? No, and Seiko does not call it one. The SKX-style cases have a rotating bezel and a 100m rating, which covers swimming and rain, but they are sports watches rather than ISO-rated divers. The SNXS pieces are dressier again and have no rotating bezel. If you need a true diver, the Seiko Prospex page is where the 200m and 300m watches live.
What is the Field GMT SSK023? It is the Seiko 5 that added a GMT hand in 2022, using Seiko’s 4R34 automatic calibre. The red-tipped 24-hour hand reads against the fixed 24-hour scale, so you can carry home time while travelling. It is the only Seiko 5 Sports here with that function and the only one on this page listed in the GMT watches collection as well.
What should you check on a used Seiko 5? The day and date should both change cleanly around midnight and the quick-set should work; a sticky day wheel is the most common fault on the 4R movements and is cheap to fix but worth knowing about. The Hardlex crystal scratches more easily than sapphire, so look at it under a light. On the bracelet, check the pins and the clasp. Every piece here was inspected before it was listed, and the photographs are of the watch you receive.
How does BeepWear list and ship these? One listing per watch, with the reference in the title and the current price. Orders ship insured within the United States; the authenticity guarantee, the returns policy and the warranty terms each have their own page. For the rest of the brand see the Seiko page.
