The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is the plainest Rolex and the cheapest way into the brand: a waterproof Oyster case, a self-winding movement, a smooth bezel and, on most references, no date. BeepWear lists eight pre-owned Oyster Perpetuals and Oyster Perpetual Dates from $3,680 to $12,000 with a median of $6,162; six are under $10,000. Each is inspected before listing and photographed as the actual watch.
Which Oyster Perpetual references are in stock? Two modern 41mm pieces, including a 124300 from the generation Rolex introduced in 2020. Four 34mm watches: a 6582 in steel and yellow gold, a 15210 Oyster Perpetual Date in steel and two 15223 Dates in steel and yellow gold. And two 26mm ladies’ references, a 6621 in steel and yellow gold and a 79190 Date in steel. Four of the eight are two-tone, which on this model means a steel case with a yellow gold bezel and centre links.
What does a pre-owned Oyster Perpetual cost? Here it starts at $3,680 for the 26mm 6621 and stays under $7,000 for every 34mm and 26mm reference: the 6582 is $5,200, the 79190 $5,348, the 15210 $6,000 and the two 15223s $6,325 and $7,000. The two 41mm watches are $11,500 and $12,000. That makes this the one Rolex page where most of the stock is under five figures, and the 34mm Date in particular is a great deal of Rolex for the money.
What is the difference between the Oyster Perpetual and the Oyster Perpetual Date? The date. The plain Oyster Perpetual has a time-only dial and a smooth bezel; the Oyster Perpetual Date adds a date window with the Cyclops lens and, on the older references here, is the watch between the Oyster Perpetual and the Datejust in Rolex’s own hierarchy. The 15210, 15223 and 79190 are Dates; the 6582, 6621 and 124300 are time-only. Rolex stopped making the Date in the 2000s, so the modern line is time-only.
Is an Oyster Perpetual a real Rolex? It is the original one. The name goes back to 1931, when Rolex combined its waterproof Oyster case of 1926 with its self-winding Perpetual rotor, and every Oyster-cased Rolex since carries the words on the dial. The Submariner and Datejust are Oyster Perpetuals with more added. What the plain model gives up is the date, the fluted bezel and the precious metal; what it keeps is the case, the movement and the chronometer certification, which is the part that matters.
Which size should you choose? The 34mm, four of the eight here, is the traditional mid-size and wears comfortably on most wrists, men’s and women’s alike; it is the size Rolex made for decades before larger cases became the norm. The 26mm is a ladies’ watch. The 41mm is the modern full-size, introduced in 2020 alongside 36mm and smaller options, and the two here are the only ones on this page with the current calibre 3230 and its roughly 70-hour reserve.
What should you check before buying a pre-owned Oyster Perpetual? On the 1980s and 1990s references (6582, 6621, 15210, 15223, 79190), whether the dial and hands are original and whether the two-tone gold shows plating wear at the bezel edge, which it should not, because Rolex uses solid gold for the bezel. Whether the winding crown screws down firmly, which is the seal of the Oyster case. And when it was last serviced; an inexpensive Rolex still costs a Rolex price to service.
How does BeepWear list and ship these? Every Oyster Perpetual is pre-owned, inspected before listing, and photographed as the actual item you will receive. Stock is one of a kind, so a sold listing comes down rather than lingering. Orders ship insured within the United States, and the authenticity guarantee, returns policy and warranty terms each have their own page.
